This 2 day (approx 12-14hr total) class includes a personal fitting for each student. You receive a pattern, manual, and sewing instructions. PLEASE wear your best fitting bra to the class even if this is not a well-fitting bra to allow me to measure you the most accurately. Your individual pattern will be altered if needed. Then, I teach you to sew the bra, one step at a time. I am happy to repeat steps for students who work at different paces. For this reason, some finish their bra at the end of the first day of class and others finish early the next day. The first bra is tried on and carefully analyzed for fit. Often this bra is quite wearable if not an excellent fit. If any changes are required, I will make them to the pattern, and then you construct your second bra. We repeat the fitting if needed, but the second bra is usually an excellent fit with no further alteration needed. You now have a pattern that fits you beautifully and you can continue to make yourself wonderfully fitting bras. If you take the advanced class you can further embellish your bra into a work of art!

Students in a class must be able to sew at an intermediate level. This generally means being able to do the following: sew opposing curves such as inserting a sleeve, work with stretch fabrics, and sew a piece of elastic to a longer piece of fabric, stretching the elastic to fit. If you are not able to do these techniques, please contact me to describe your sewing experience. During a private class, I will have the time to teach these techniques to you, but you must have sewing experience. You will need a zigzag machine in good working order as these fabrics can be a bit of a work out for your machine as they are thick and worked in many layers. If your machine is in good repair you should have no trouble or schedule a tune-up before your class. We do not use a serger for this bra and only need a straight stitch, variable zigzag and a three-step zigzag (aka triple zigzag or a serpentine stitch can also be used).

Class Fitting: You will need to have your breasts exposed for the fitting but to keep you from feeling exposed, I suggest that you wear your own front opening shirt or you can borrow one I bring to class. We will have a fitting room/area next to the class area.
